Results to Date:

In late 2008 the Syrian Ministry of Tourism invited the Abraham's Path team to join them in the field to survey and assess the development of the Syrian Cultural Walking Trail. 100 kilometers were walked and delineated. This national hiking trail will join the holy and historic places of western Syria in a continuous itinerary.

Objectives

• Assist the Syrian Ministry of Tourism in developing the Syrian Cultural Walking Trail beginning with a route from Deir Mar Musa to Damascus — the Monastery Trail.
• Conduct fieldwork to accurately delineate and way mark the trail.
• Engage communities along the initial route in collaborative planning and the purpose of the Trail.

• The Syrian Ministry of Tourism, and other private, public and non-profit sector leaders selected by the Ministry.
