Results to Date:
- In July 2008 the first international youth walk pioneered the newly opened 50 km
section of the path through the heart of the West Bank.
- The Palestine team has forged relationships with influential partners, including the Ministry of Tourism.
- The second annual meeting of the Abraham Path in Bethlehem, led by the Minister of
Tourism, united dozens of public, private and non-profit sector partners.
- The Palestine team has led local walks with youth of all ages, including school
children.
- Youth leaders active in Palestinian communities have become ambassadors to
universities in the US, and are hopeful emissaries to the 2009 Harvard Bridge
Builders' Conference.
Objectives for 2009
- Delineate pilot segments from Betin to Bethlehem and from Bethlehem to Hebron.
- Facilitate international guided tours on the opened segment and run day tours
and weekend excursions for Palestinian youth.
- Identify community needs and potential economic opportunities.
- Establish Palestine as a major destination for pilgrims, cultural and environmental
tourists.
- Promote international understanding of Palestinian culture and highlight the
country's natural beauty.
